Hitting the Pause Button: My Staycation from the Grind with Rain & Hills!
Hey everyone!
Remember that feeling of being stuck in a hamster wheel? Yeah, that was me. Alarm clock screaming, rush hour traffic nightmares, and surviving on that weak office tea (seriously, who likes lukewarm anything?!). Don’t get me wrong, my job had its perks – awesome colleagues and a decent paycheck. But lately, the spark just wasn’t there anymore. The commute was draining, the work felt dull, and the stress was getting outta control.
So, I did something a little…well, maybe not that crazy! I decided to take a break from the whole nine-to-five thing. The plan? To become a stay-at-home…something. That part was still a bit fuzzy.
The first few weeks? Pure. Bliss. Sleeping in, leisurely breakfasts on the balcony (complete with some amazing hill views and the occasional rain shower – hey, it’s character-building!). Plus, I finally tackled that mountain of unread books I’d been promising myself I’d get to. It was pure freedom, and let me tell you, it felt amazing.
But after a while, things got a little…uneventful as a new feeling started creeping in – a touch of aimlessness. Don’t get me wrong, staying home has its perks. I’ve been experimenting with tons of new recipes – turns out I might have a hidden talent for baking (wish me luck on the next one, it involves a lot of chocolate!). But there’s also a lot of “me” time, which can be both a blessing and a curse. This social butterfly here started missing those fun watercooler chats and brainstorming sessions with the team.
Here’s the thing: figuring out this stay-at-home life is an ongoing adventure. It’s not always sunshine and rainbows (although the extra time for gardening has definitely been a bright spot!). It’s all about finding a new rhythm, a new purpose outside the office walls.
So far,
Self-discovery is messy, but rewarding. Who knew I had a hidden talent for sourdough bread baking?
Staying connected is crucial volunteering at a local animal shelter – there are countless ways to stay engaged.
Structure is my friend. Setting routines, taking online courses, and even joining a virtual co-working group has helped me stay productive and motivated.
This might not be the path for everyone, but I hope it resonates with someone out there. Maybe you’re feeling the same itch for a change, or maybe you’re just curious about what it’s like to be a stay-at-home explorer.
This vlog is my way of documenting this adventure, sharing my experiences, and maybe even inspiring you to find your own path to happiness and fulfillment, cubicle or no cubicle.
